is it safe to use CBD?

This is a question that you may me asking yourself after hearing so much that CBD is good for this and its good for that, and you´re right to ask the question.

Many people still associate CBD with Cannabis, which in reality is true, they are associated, however, not in the way you think. Just because CBD comes from the cannabis or hemp plant, it doesn’t mean that it will have the same effects, let’s explain a little more.

So, the reason for the “high” effect caused when consuming cannabis comes from one of its cannabinoids called tetrahidrocannabinol, or for short THC.

THC

THC, has in the past received some bad press for its psychoactive properties and in fact is the reason why cannabis is illegal, however, even though it has psychoactive effects, it also has a lot of benefits for your health. But that´s something to look into another day.

So, is CBD safe to use?

In short, the answer is yes, so much so that the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 14th of December 2017 officially recommended that “cannabis compound cannabidiol (CBD) not be internationally scheduled as a controlled substance”

At its November 2017 meeting, the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECDD) concluded that, in its pure form state, cannabidiol does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm.

On another note, CBD is the main ingredient in the new epilepsy drug created by GW Pharmaceuticals called EPIDIOLEX designed to treat severe cases of epilepsy in children. Therefore, if it´s used with children it has to be safe, right.

Cannabinoids are natural

Most people don’t know or are unaware of the fact that there are two types of cannabinoids that exist in the world. On one hand, we have “Endocannabinoids”, the word “Endo” comes from Latin and means within and therefore these cannabinoids are the ones that we produce naturally in our brains to control our endocannabinoid system. Then on the other hand, we have “Phytocannabinoids”, the word “Phyto” is the Latin word for plant and therefore these cannabinoids are produced in plants.

If we produce our own cannabinoids, why do we need CBD oils?

The answer to this question is an easy one. The reason that we use CBD oils or any CBD products for that matter is because, like everything in our body, throughout time we produce less and less of our own natural cannabinoids and therefore our endocannabinoid system begins to fail, causing problems such as arthritis, dementia, aches and pains and several other problems. If your endocannabinoid system isn’t working correctly then your body can´t fight for itself. This is where CBD products come in, by adding CBD to your body from an external source like a CBD Oil, we revitalize our ECS and start fighting four ourselves again as oppose to depending on addictive medication.

In conclusion

As CBD is a natural compound that has been deemed safe by several important scientific bodies like the WHO (World Health Organisation), can we really argue that it isn´t safe?

We will leave you to decide for yourself and leave us a comment in the comment section to let us know if you think it´s safe or not in your experience.
